Avrig 35's first venture outside Bucharest occurred in 2003 with the purchasing of buildings in 17 larger Romanian cities. The company is currently transforming one of the purchased buildings, situated in the city center of Brasov, into a Class A office building. The city is situated in the south-eastern part of the Transylvanian Plateau, with an estimated population of 330,000 inhabitants. The nine level building is located within the new central area of the city. This is the commercial and administrative area of Brasov, including buildings by the local and county administration. The rest of the purchased buildings were refurbished and the space rented to Raiffeisen Bank and various other companies. This 47,000 sq m portfolio, sold in 2008, represents the only true domestic real estate portfolio in Romania, with buildings in most of the Romanian provincial capital cities.
